Animal ID: 17-05-21-00005BARNEY (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Barney Beagle!! This happy, happy dog is one of those dogs who we think has had a hard life, but is still a happy, happy dog. He was picked up as a stray by local animal control and noone came to look for him. He has great social skills, loves everyone, wants zero troubles with any dog and actively avoids any kind of conflict, could sit in a lap all day long, enjoys walks to sniff like his nose tells him to sniff, and seems to be on very good terms with cats. Barney wants to be a bit of a leg lifter but since he came in unneutered, that is just something that his man-parts are telling him to do. He will lose those man parts very soon so ... (Read More)his leg lifting will gradually go away. A belly band has done wonders to help teach him to keep his leg on the ground. Barney has some age to him - we are guessing 8-10 years based on his teeth - but he does not act like a senior dog. He also tested positive for heartworms which really sucks, but he is being treated with a slow treatment option because of his age. He will be getting a dental to return his old-man teeth to nice pearly white. This is a wonderful dog who deserves a life of leisure and couch cushions so he can live out his older years in comfort and style. Please ask about Barney today! (Less)

Animal ID: 17-05-21-0004LIBBY (female)

American Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Libby is a beautiful and chunky ABD mix who was part of a litter of dumped puppies when she was very, very young. She was in terrible shape with a horrific infection in one of her eyes which caused her to lose sight in that eye. She kept the actual eyeball, but is blind in her left eye. She was adopted to a terrific home when she was a baby, but when Libby was about 1.5 years old, her human mother developed severe and life threatening health problems and could no longer care for Libby. So, she is now back with us and is looking for a new home. Libby is a big girl, and while she was very overwhelmed when she came back to the shelter, she has ... (Read More)adjusted very well. She can be a bit shy with people she does not know, but warms up very quickly with treats and kind words. She LOVES to play and wants to be with her person. Her blindness in one eye does NOT cause her any problems and she gets around just as good as a dog who has sight in both eyes. Libby would do best in a single-person household with no other pets. She tends to be protective of her person and does not do well sharing him or her with others. We recognize that Libby's size, protectiveness, and bad eye will make it difficult for her to find a home, but we sure want folks to know what a great dog she is! She is housebroken. Please come meet Libby today! (Less)

Animal ID: 17-05-21-0002O'HAIL (female)

Pug Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

O'Hail got her name from a series of events. She found herself at a local pound along with her 2 puppies. We pulled the puppies and named them Thunder and Lightening. However, we made a mistake and did not realize that the mom was still there with a ticking clock. So, we were thinking of weather names and given our error in leaving the mom, we named her O'Hail because it is weather-related and sort of sounds like what we said when we realized she was still at the pound. O'Hail is about 3 years old, 50 pounds and is a dreamboat of a fat little dog who makes everyone giggle with her antics. She is VERY playful, loves to steal other dogs' toys ... (Read More)and treats and then squirrel them away under her blankets. When she is caught being a treat/toy thief, she looks up at you with a sheepish grin like 'sorry - not very' and her adorable underbite can be seen. She is very playful with her dog friends and loves to run and romp and then is ready for a long nap. When O'Hail first meets you, she is sometimes a little timid, but quickly warms up after getting to know you. O'Hail does love to play with other dogs, but she wants her food to belong just to her and not another dog. O'Hail wants to be an inside dog with her people and LOVES, LOVES, LOVES peanut butter like crazy. She is a terrific fat little dog who will make someone a wonderful pet. Please come an look at O'Hail today!!! (Less)

Animal ID: 17-05-20-00382MCGEE (male)

Lab Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

McGee was an owner surrender because he loves chickens and ducks. He REALLY loves chicken and duck. Yes, he is a high black lab mix, but he wants all the birds for himself. McGee is an active dog with lots of things to do and would appreciate a home where he can stretch his legs. He likes children but not in the same way he likes poultry so that's a good trait. McGee is good with other dogs and would do best with an active playmate because a lazy dog might not appreciate his energy. He also prefers the lady dogs to other boys because he wants all the girls to himself. McGee is neutered, but unfortunately tested positive for heartworms and is ... (Read More)being treated. If you want to adopt McGee, ask for an application! (Less)

Animal ID: 17-05-20-00379JUNIOR (male)

Australian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Junior is a 2 year old Aussie/Beagle mix who was an owner surrender. It seems Junior was a bit too active and had to be kept on a chain which is sort of sad. He is a super happy dog, never met a stranger, loves to go to the vet, the grocery store, the dry cleaners, and all other places. He is very short and stumpy but very thick and fat and weighs right at 40 pounds on his short and stumpy legs. Junior will be neutered prior to adoption and unfortunately was not put on heartworm prevention and he tested positive for heartworms. He is being treated. Junior is very good about not pottying in his kennel and does his best to hold it for outside ... (Read More)exercise time. Junior is one of those silly dogs who makes you giggle because of his physical appearance and is silly demeanor. Please ask about an application for him today! (Less)

Animal ID: 17-05-20-00370BUTCH WILBUR (male)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Meet Butch Wilbur! He has two names for a reason. 'Butch' was the name he had when he was taken by local animal control for neglect and 'Wilbur' was the name we added because 'Butch' honestly doesn't fit him but he knows it and he looks like a pig! Here is his story... Butch Wilbur found himself in a local animal control facility and on borrowed time and facing a grizzly fate. A sympathetic but perhaps not really thinking it through person pulled Butch from the pound on his last day and gave Butch to someone who said they wanted the dog. Yes - it was an effort to save the dog's life. However, Butch then found himself on a chain and never ... (Read More)received any vet care. Almost 2 years later, Butch's person was in jail and he was still on that chain, still not altered, and never put on heartworm prevention. So, we got Butch Wilbur and did all the things his person should have done. Butch is fixed, vaccinated, but he unfortunately although not surprisingly tested positive for heartworms. He is being treated however. Butch is a big, big boy at almost 80 pounds and he is thick and low to the ground and just a happy, happy, happy dog. He is a bit of a bull in a china shop kind of dog and really does not understand how big and strong he is. He is full of goofy play and sees everyone as his friend. He is a terrific dog who enjoys his play time and will run and snort like the fat pig he is! He is about 3 years old and does not like doing his business in his kennel and thankfully waits until he gets outside for that kind of activity. If you are interested in adopting Butch, you can ask for an application. Warning - anyone with a less than glowing vet reference including heartworm prevention on any existing dog will automatically be denied. Butch will also not go to a home without a fenced yard because his roaming is how he was picked up and put in the slammer to start with. We really want a happy life for this wonderful snausage dog and finding him that right and permanent and safe and healthy home is our goal! (Less)

Animal ID: 17-05-20-00364KIP (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Kip is a black and tan chubber who was left behind on his steps when his family pulled away with their house. You read correctly - the family pulled their mobile home out ,but left the front steps and their dog. Kip waited on the steps for 4 days and no one came back for him. The mail carrier noticed the family had left and kept waiting to see if they came back for the dog, but they did not. So, the mail carrier started making calls to get Kip into a rescue. Kip is about 4 years old based on his teeth and has a lot of playful energy. He loves to play with his blankets and stuffed cloth toys. Kip loves to ride in the car and sits really well ... (Read More)while looking out the window. Kip doesn't like being picked up by his belly for some reason - he is sensitive on that part of his body. He will get into a car fine on his own if it isn't too monster high, but any lifting must take place under his rear end. We don't know if he has had an old injury or old trauma to his belly that makes him sensitive to that part of his body? He was great for his vet exam and unfortunately, but not surprisingly, tested positive for heartworms. He is being treated however. Kip seems to prefer the lady dogs to male dogs and is a nice combination of playfulness but not hyper and certainly enjoys a post-playtime nap. While we do not know if he was an inside dog before his house was removed, but Kip does not do his business in his kennel and will hold it until he gets outside. If you are interested in Kip, please ask for an application! (Less)
